King Coyle is Dead! :)

King Coyle (booo!), made us follow these rules.

A proclamation from his most formidable majesty King Coyle of Grade 8 unto his subjects in the land of M1.

1.All Indian Rupees are now worthless. Only History dollars, issued by the Royal Mint, shall be used to pay Royal Taxes and Fees.

2.All classroom documents and technology, such as homework, journals and hand-outs must bear a Royal Stamp, which shall be purchased from King Coyle, for $10 History Dollars or they will not be considered legal and will not be allowed to be turned in.

3.King Coyle shall approve all books, newspapers, and pamphlets, for appropriate content. It shall be forbidden to bring reading material that is not approved by King Coyle in class.

4.The King shall appoint all public officials, including the Mayor and Sheriff, and all Judges for court cases, to insure their loyalty to King Coyle of M1.

5.There shall be a curfew in M1 of 8:25AM, and nobody is permitted to leave unless attending an activity approved by King Coyle.

6.All citizens of M1 shall attend the Church of King Coyle, Sundays, at 10:00 AM. in M1 of the Middle School. All other churches shall be closed.

7. No citizen of M1 is permitted to own a gun, rifle, or weapon of any kind.

8.Those who speak out against King Coyle or any of his policies shall be guilty of Treason and given 30 minutes of after school detention.

It was injustice that he made us pay taxes without our permission. He took all the rights we had and made us pay for them. It was funny to see people complain about the amount of money they had to pay or the amount they got to receive. Those people went under Treason, or to Georgia. some people had a whole lot of money but then they complained and got all of it taken away.

The Forty-Third War-- By Louise Moeri

The novel The Forty-Third War takes place in a country in Central America. I know this because the language that is spoken in the novel is Spanish.(Moeri 36) To be more specific, the novel takes place in Guatemala. I know this because Guatemala contains many tropical areas, and part of the novel takes place in a tropical jungle. Plus, there are a few volcanoes in Guatemala, and the novel shows that there are volcanoes there too.(Guatemala) Lastly, the story of Joaquin in the novel shows that he traveled through Mexico, and on the way back, he stopped at Stockton, a city in California. (Stockton) For all of this to be true, the novel has to take place in Guatemala.
Louise Moeri does not tell the reader about where the novel takes place because child soldiers are all over the world.

Thirteen Colonies

  • The main visual elements are the pieces of the snake divided into the names of the thirteen colonies, and the “Join or Die.”

  • The issue is that Ben Franklin is telling most people to join the thirteen colonies.

  • The cartoonist’s opinion is that you should join the thirteen colonies.

  • The “Join or Die” in big wording.

  • Put all the colonies on the snake especially GEORGIA!!!!.

The trustworthy of "To Be a Slave"

To trust the reality of what people say in this book. People say their personal experiences which history books might not say. Like the overseer asking them for their initials and age which of course they didn’t know.

Lester, Julius. To Be a Slave. Broadway: Scholastic, 1968.

The former slaves talk about when they did one little thing wrong, they would whip them and beat them up. In the history books that they give to people, have so far not said anything about this.

Great Powers Game

The Great Powers Game was fun because we all were different countries and were declaring war, buying armies, and other stuff. This was conflict because everyone was very competitive and doing their best to win. Our country Russia won because we won wars and bought things our country needed.
