Yes the sources talk about how the Belgians left the Rwandans to die. You saw how the Belgians left Paul and the Tutsi's alone at the hotel after the UN soldier told them.

Scramble For Africa
Our group for Scramble for Africa was the country Germany. Our strategy to claim the land was to claim all of the coast. Of the factors we considered were access to the water from the coast because if we wanted gold we could go to find some, but on the way back if someone else has the coast they're obviously are not going to give access. Without the coast, you wont be able to get the gold back to your country to sell it.
Id say Great Britain won because they had land inside Africa with minerals and gold and they had a way to bring it back home to sell it because they had land on the coast as well. The Germans were the next closest because they had coast and inner land, but not as much as Great Britain had. France got to much land, but too little coast. Portugal had all land and no coast. The Dutch had some coast but no way to get to the inner land with resources. Belgium had very little resources but no coast. Lastly, Spain had nothing at all, they had no resourceful land and had no coast.
Spain lost the Scramble for Africa because they had no resourceful land and they had no coast to get to the land (even if it was resourceful). Belgium should have lost because they had the most least amount of land but the were resourceful. Portugal also should have lost because they had lots of resourceful land but absolutely no way to get to them without confronting the countries that took over the coast.

Cartoon Analysis
The main visual elements are the footstep in Africa. The issue of this cartoon is how the Europeans took over Africa and really changed it. The cartoonists position is how he thought that it was wrong for the Europeans to take over Africa. The evidence is the footstep because no one would make fun of the Europeans taking over Africa so it shows how mean the Europeans were. Make more footsteps and give them the name of the country.

Analyze the elements
The main visual elements are the persons head, the arms, and the countries. The issue this cartoon is talking about is the way England took over all these different countries and took slaves. The artists opinion about this issue must be that he thinks it is terrible that England is taking over all these helpless countries. The author thinks this because the England guy's face looks really evil. The author can remove the birds in the background and put them as slaves. The contrast is the different countries. The repetition the several arms.

Don't Start It
Violence does lead to more violence. If you punch someone for not receiving owed money, other people will get involved and soon a riot will start. Trust me tear gas and pepper spray is unbearable. See one little thing can start something very big. I am not using any names but there is a fight going on between two people which is being caused by little insults that create a big racket!

The qualities of being a good leader is getting everyone to listen to you and agree. If they need help they should come and ask you not someone else because you are the leader. Everyone should believe that you are going to lead them in the right direction. If they don't follow you, you should be the one to tell them. You have to be sure of yourself and not let your friends get the best of you. You need to sacrifice for that time and get what needs to be done basically done.

I am proud that I have made it through the first quarter without any difficulties. I've gotten good comments from the teacher but still my assignments don't have a very good grade. All my IR assignments, quizzes, tests, writings, and homeworks are not good. The time I was gone I missed assignments and I caught up with not a lot of effort. I did really bad in the IR test.
I studied but I didn't have all the notes & vocabulary I needed. I wasn't so sure on how the stock market worked, how to tell if a company was good, all the numbers were confusing. It was an information overload.

Quarter 2 Goals:
I am paying attention a lot better than I used to at the start of the quarter. I am still a little shaky in the participating in class discussions. My goals for this quarter are to be more organized, don't let my agenda rip, and do better on participating in class.

The fruit roll up smells like hooka tobacco (mmmmmm) and blueberry. It looks like a blue piece of rubber tongue. It tastes like tobacco and blueberry. The only thing it sounds like is the fruit roll up squishing between your teeth. It feels like sticky rubber that can easily be broken.

Communism Exhibit
Welcome to the Industrial Revolution rise of communism exhibit. In this exhibit we have photographs of Karl Marx, his family and his friend Friedrich Engels. Communism is a form of government thought up by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Communism supports the elimination of private property creating a classless and stateless society. Everyone is equal; their house and health service is covered by the government. Everything is owned by the people through the government.
Communism has affected the way people think about politics and the government. Karl Marx criticized capitalism because he thought that it was making the rich man richer and the poor man poorer. As a solution to this problem he proposed communism.
Look at the photo gallery and see me if you have any questions.

The Great Communist Dies
Yesterday on the 14th of March, 1883, the father of communism, Karl Marx died. In the words of his friend Engels, "On the 14th of March, at a quarter to three in the afternoon, the greatest living thinker ceased to think. He had been left alone for scarcely two minutes, and when we came back we found him in his armchair, peacefully gone to sleep - but forever." The loss is terribly felt by all in Europe, communists in America, and the rest of the world.
Karl Marx was born in the year 1818 in Trier, Prussia. He was a scientist, a politician, a historian, a mathematician, and a revolutionary. He came to be known as the father of communism. His biggest contribution was to liberate the lowest social and economic class of the community. He supported the elimination of the private properties and enterprise. He felt that people should earn the same amount of money, and there should be no social class.
Karl Marx was the most controversial figure; many slandered him because of his revolutionary ideas. He just brushed aside criticisms and just proceeded to communicate his philosophy and ideas through his writings and speeches. Together with Engels, Marx developed a criticism of the capitalistic system in which labor was seen and treated as a dispensable commodity.
He was married in June 19, 1843 to Jenny von Westphalen. They raised a total of seven children but only three of them survived into adulthood. The family lived in poverty and they had to live in a three room flat in London. The source of their income was money that was given by Marx’s friend Engels. Marx also had a job of writing weekly articles for the “New York Daily Tribune.” Marx died as a stateless person and is buried in Highgate Cemetery London.

What buy low sell high has to do with the stock market is that you buy a company and wait till the year is over. The next year price might go up or down but if it goes up you can sell it for a very high price. I was constantly selling my "Drexel Morgan" because the price was always going up and I made a lot of money. Stock people often sell their companies because the price goes up most of the time.

Descriptive Writing
Dear Karl Marx,
I am John D. Rockefeller founder of the Standard Oil Company. My goal in life is to make as much money as I can and use it to help people. Both of us want everyone to have a good life but in different ways. You are a communist who is supporting the elimination of the private properties and enterprise. I know you think that people should earn the same amount of money, and there should be no social class. While I understand that you want equality, I do not agree with your philosophy, because it is a wrong kind of equality since it is against basic human freedom and spirit of creativity.
I believe people should be allowed to make as much money as they want, and according to their talents, skills, creativity, and how hard they work. Not everyone will like your policy of communism because even those who do not work hard or are not creative will earn the same amount of money as those who are hard working and creative. Under your policies, there will be no competition which is important for people so they will work hard and economy will grow.
My policy of capitalism promotes competition and creativity, and protects human liberty and freedom of choice. All people will benefit from the economic progress in a capitalistic society. The money earned by rich people can be channeled by them to help the poor and fight poverty and disease.
I therefore urge you not to spread your philosophy which can cause political trouble, against basic human rights and liberty, and are likely to make everybody poor.
Yours truly,
John D. Rockefeller

I need to catch up with the work I missed and right now. I also need to start bringing my assignments on time. I can't get four days of missed work done in one day, and today I realized that I didn't have my assignment today. I think that happened because I was too focused on my new MOTO RAZR. Earlier I was catching up with my work because I was here at AES but now I left for Pakistan and missed 4 days worth of work. My goals are not going too good. I really regret going to Pakistan and I never will miss work. I'm still not that participant and need to be otherwise things can go wrong.

Today my "Big Headed Gangster (From Atlanta)," made it into the finals of the contest but still lost. Conor's "The Hersh" won so we had to make as many of those as we could. I at least got a few votes by important people. It was way differant from yesterday when today like I said we had to make as many "Hersh's" as we could. I couldn't get all the things exactly like it was supposed to.

I remember I could smell the sweat of my fear and some of the fresh air that was getting overpowered with the smell of sweat of others. I was so uncomfortable on the hard seats and being unable to reach the hand rails made it worse. It wasn’t a good sweat breeze going through my hair. The sound of the screams and rails clattering wasn’t really pleasant with all this fear. I saw all these obstacles coming my way but they always just missed me and that scared me even though I knew they weren’t real. I tried to look mean when I came out. I wanted to look like this so people think I am brave but it wasn’t too easy with wobbly legs. I still say you try a roller coaster.

Feedback
I am a musical learner meaning I can imagine music with everything I hear and that helps me because love music and I pay a lot of attention to it. I am also a kinesthetic learner because I can learn by doing things. I am lastly a visual learner because I have a very strong visual perception. I like movies and videos because they are cool and help me understand things better.
1. Two of my highlights were that I wasn't participating too much at all and the second highlight is that I was disorganized.
2. My first impression of humanities was that it was going to be a lot better than last year.
3. My two goals are that I am going to be better at paying attention and participating in class discussions.
